Alerting Systems and Signaling Devices

Alerting Systems & Signaling Devices

Home Safety systems alert you to important events in your home with flashing lights, scrolling words, vibration, loud alarms, or a talking voice.

Did you know there are alerts for such events as smoke and carbon monoxide gas alarms, doorbells, cellphone and landline calls, baby cries, door and window openings, and many others?

These devices are beneficial at night to wake you up in an emergency!

When shopping for Silent Call or HomeAware System devices, follow these steps:

Step 1: Choose one Receiver for each room you wish to be notified in. (Add a bed shaker if you need to wake up at night for these events.)

Step 2: Choose a Transmitter for each event you wish to be notified of.

It is recommended by the Fire Department to have at least one smoke detector on EACH floor of your home, including the basement.  You may consider a smoke detector in each bedroom as well. A carbon monoxide (CO) detector should be placed outside the bedroom door to receive alerts when you are sleeping.

Please check your local fire code if you are unsure how many detectors are needed and the placement of these life-saving devices.
